THE CARE

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care looks at how your joints, muscles and nervous system are working together — then uses hands-on adjusting, soft-tissue work and movement to help you move more freely and with less pain. It is drug-free, non-surgical, and you do not need a referral in Ontario.

Chiropractic here runs on three tracks. If you are new, or not sure where to start, Dr. Nick covers general chiropractic and sports rehab. Dr. Bryan and Dr. Alina cover more specialised ground. Which one fits depends on why you are coming in.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

What to Expect

Your first visit is mostly assessment. We take a history, screen how you move, and test hands-on before we treat anything — then we explain what we found in plain language and agree a plan with you.

1

FULL ASSESSMENT

History, movement screening and hands-on testing, so we treat the cause and not just the sore spot.

2

A CLEAR PLAN

We give you an honest estimate of what it may take. It is an estimate, not a promise — nobody responsible can guarantee an outcome.

3

BACK TO MOVING

Most people carry on with their day straight after. We will tell you if anything should be modified.

Stop Working Around the Pain

If you have been managing around something for a while, an assessment is a good place to start.

Chiropractic

Assessment First

Every new patient starts with an assessment before treatment. If we think someone else is a better fit for what you have got going on — inside the clinic or outside it — we will tell you.

Insurance & Coverage

Chiropractic is not covered by OHIP, but most extended health plans include it. We direct bill through Telus eClaims and Medavie Blue Cross, which between them cover most major insurers. Where direct billing is not available, we provide a receipt you can submit.

FAQ

Chiropractic Questions

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Ontario?

No. Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners in Ontario, so you can book directly with us. Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s note before they reimburse, so it is worth checking your own coverage.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most people find it comfortable, and often a relief. If you would rather not be adjusted manually, we have low-force options such as Activator instrument adjusting and Cox flexion-distraction. Tell us what you are comfortable with and we will work with it.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what is going on and how long it has been going on. After your assessment we will give you an honest estimate — but it is an estimate, not a guarantee, and we will revisit it as we see how you respond.

Is chiropractic covered by OHIP?
No, chiropractic is not covered by OHIP. Most extended health benefit plans do cover it, and in most cases we can bill your insurer directly rather than you paying up front and claiming it back.
Do you direct bill my insurance?
In most cases, yes. We direct bill anything that runs through Telus eClaims, which covers most major insurers, and we also direct bill Medavie Blue Cross. Bring your policy and member number to your first visit and we will check what your plan allows. Anything your plan does not cover is payable at the visit.
Do you treat disc problems and sciatica?

Yes. Cox flexion-distraction is a gentle, non-surgical technique often used for disc-related pain and spinal stenosis, and Dr. Alina has a particular interest in this area. We assess first, and refer you on if you need imaging or a different provider.

Can I come while pregnant?

Yes. Dr. Alina has continuing education in pregnancy and paediatric adjusting, and adapts positioning and technique as pregnancy progresses.

Do you work with athletes?

Yes — that is most of our practice, from professional and military athletes through to rec-league players and weekend warriors. We also work with people who simply want to move well and stay active.

Do you treat concussions?
Yes. Dr. Bryan is certified through Complete Concussion Management (CCMI) and leads concussion care at the clinic. We assess first, and if your symptoms suggest you need imaging or another provider, we will say so and refer you on.
